Giving Away Three Books That Changed My Life!!! A Chance to Win Them All

by RJ

in Random

I’m feeling generous today. Today is your chance to win three of my favorite books, books that have helped shape my life, for free.

I wouldn’t call this a giveaway because I’m not exactly looking forward to giving up each of these books. However, I do realize that it’s time for them to find a new home. A new place, to shift another person’s thoughts on what can be accomplished. (Sort of like how Andy from Toy Story 3, just didn’t want to give away his toys to anyone.)

The Three Ways You Can Win

Entering is really simple.  It takes less than a minute.

  1. Leave a Comment - Leave a comment on this post. In your comment, explain one way Gen Y Wealth has helped improve your finances.
  2. Like on Facebook and Leave a Comment – If you’re not a fan already, click on the following link to become a fan of Gen Y Wealth on Facebook. If you already are, just leave a comment on an existing thread.
  3. Share on TwitterTweet or Retweet about this giveaway. Make sure to include @rjweiss, so I can log your entry. For example you can say, “Follow @rjweiss from Gen Y Wealth today and be entered to win one of three AMAZING books http://su.pr/1uSRkL”

The Three Books That You Can Win

Straight from my bookshelf, you have a chance to win…

Linchpin by Seth Godin

If you’re interested in the future of work, or just earning money, there is no better book than Linchpin.

The Plan as You Go Business Plan by Tim Berry

On a few occasions, I’ve tried creating a formal business plan for Gen Y Wealth. Looking back, most of this time was wasted. My business plan was just a business guess. Only, it took me months to figure out my incorrect assumptions.

Enter, The Plan as You Go Business Plan. This was the first book that allowed me to create a flexible business plan. This was exactly what I needed.

ReCreate Your Life by Morty Lefkoe

The last place I go in a bookstore is the “self-help” section. In the past, I’ve read about 15-20 self help books, and didn’t get too much out of them. That changed with ReCreate Your Life. What was unique about ReCreate Your Life is it actually contained a process. More importantly, a process that works.

ReCreate Your Life has helped improve my life, let it improve yours.

Win All Three Books

One winner will be selected from the comments section, one from Facebook, and one from Twitter. This means that you can potentially win all three books.

Lucky for you, Gen Y Wealth isn’t a top 100 blog, so your  chances of winning are high. Good luck!

One last thing, only those in the Continental U.S. can win.

Selecting the Winners

I will pick the winners as 11 A.M. Central Time on February, 14th, 2011. The results will be posted here, Twitter, and Facebook.

Update: Results are in.

Congrats to:

  1. Patrick
  2. Charlotte
  3. GKV

Glad to have the chance to win these books. I’m already enjoying another of your recommendations, The Boglehead’s Guide to Investing, and I’m barely past the intro.

I first heard about your when Get Rich Slowly linked to your 20 Financial Milestone You Want to Reach in Your 20s. I’m 21 years old and still in college, but I have already reached some of those goals. I’ve automated my credit card bills and am building an emergency fund. I want to earn $1k on the side also later this year. That list is a great guide to smart finance!

Whoops forgot to add – the way Gen Y has helped my finances (other than getting me hooked on the BogleHead’s Guide) is making me realize that, while it it good that I already have a budget, it doesn’t mean much if it’s not inspiring change. I think our household budget needs an update, and my boyfriend and I will be addressing that together this weekend.

Pick me! Pick me! :) I read your blog everyday looking for ideas, inspiration, motivation. We’ve had a pretty rough patch the past few years, and we are just starting to emerge from our financial black hole. For so long, every penny that came in the house went right back out. I feel like I need to re-learn how to successfully handle our finances as we shift from survival mode to time to thrive mode. I love reading your blog. Finances can be intimidating. You help make it commonsensical.

These books are ones that were also recommended by a friend of mine. It would be great to start reading some new material now that I have completed Bogleheads and I will Teach You to Be Rich.

I’ve appreciated your look at finances for Gen Y. Many sites focus on all age groups, but your focus on a younger audience really helps to show what we should be doing now as well as setting goals for the future.

RJ,

I also loved the Bogglehead’s Guide to Investing, but the do it yourself MBA has been of great use to me. Thanks, keep up the great work!

I didn’t win on Sam’s website, he has to many followers so I just might have a better chance here. Of course, in another year your site might be getting into the same playing field as Financial Samurai.

I am a recently graduated engineer working full time for a fortune 500. I read Linchpin and it really changed my attitude towards the work I do. Do work that matters to you or run the other direction.

I would love to win a book! I haven’t read any of them. I really liked your article on things to do in your 20s. I sent it to my younger siblings and hope they’ll take a hint!

I just started reading PF blogs in general, so I’m a recent convert to Gen Y Wealth. So far, I’m learning a lot of tips about investing, which is the most important financial goal I have this year. I’m 28 and just opened a Roth IRA this month – I’m disgusted by the time I’ve wasted! The world of investing is totally foreign to me (I call my level of understanding Level Zero) so I’m reading everything I can to make informed decisions about my future. I love to read, and I especially like to read free books!

I am a gen y’er and am trying to get on top of my finances and stay there. The most memorable thing I have learned so far from this blog is how the income tax bracket system works. Very clear, and eye opening to me.
Keep up the good work.

I’m in my 20s now, and I really enjoyed your post on 20 Financial Milestones You Want to Reach in Your 20s. I haven’t hit them all yet, but I’m definitely working on #11 – Taking Career Risk. This is my time to give something different a shot, which is why I started writing and working on my online business.

Any chance you want to send those books on a bit of a journey to Oz? I’d love to have them!
