52 Questions That Can Make You Rich

Just one question, will help you see something that you never saw before.

The purpose of this post was to devise a list of 52 questions, one for each week of the year. Once a week take 20 minutes to see what your brain comes up with. I promise, you will find new ideas that never occurred to you before. All from a simple question.

  1. If I had to increase my income by 5% by the end of the week, how would I do it?
  2. What action can I take in the next 5, 30, or 60 minutes that can improve my finances?
  3. What information am I consuming that isn’t helping me?
  4. When was the last time I couldn’t go to bed because I was so excited? Why?
  5. What do I fear doing? What would happen if I conquered my fear?
  6. If I was going to double my income in 365 days, how would I do it?
  7. If I had $10,000,000 what would I do each day?
  8. If a doctor told me I only had 5 years left to live, how would I spend my time and money?
  9. If I had 24 hours to live, what do I regret not doing? Why haven’t I done that yet?
  10. What do I focus my attention on, what I want or what I don’t want?
  11. What are my strengths and opportunities?
  12. What are my weaknesses and threats?
  13. Where did my last $1,000 actually go? Is this where I actually want my money to go?
  14. What am I grateful for?
  15. If I had to get rid of half of my material possessions, what would they be?
  16. When am I most effective in getting things done?
  17. What assumptions have I not tested, that I currently live my life by?
  18. What’s one thing I should stop doing, which will have the biggest impact on my life?
  19. What did I do as a kid for fun? Why haven’t I continued to enjoy these hobbies?
  20. Where is my life unorganized?
  21. What commitments did I break? Why?
  22. What is the worst case scenario if I consider doing, what I’m about to do?
  23. How much time do I waste each day? If I multiplied the time I waste each day by 365, how much time do I waste each year? If I live to 100, what percentage of my life, would have been wasted?
  24. If I lost 100% of my income today, what would I do?
  25. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would I rank my health? My finances? My relationships?
  26. What are my most positive memories? Who was I with? Where was I? How much did that experience cost?
  27. What’s the one skill I could learn, that could improve my life the most?
  28. From the time I wake up, to the time I go to sleep, what would my prototypical perfect day be? How much would that day cost?
  29. Who do I admire most? How can I meet or talk to that person?
  30. What am I not taking advantage of?
  31. What advice have I gotten, that I haven’t tried out yet? Why have I refused to try something different?
  32. What’s one big, hairy, audacious goal that I’ve always wanted to achieve but haven’t? Why am I resisting?
  33. What are my greatest achievements? What are the similarities between these achievements?
  34. What period on my life did I most enjoy? What were the common characteristics?
  35. If I started from scratch today, how would I spend my money differently?
  36. If I started from scratch today, what career path would I take? How can this become a possibility?
  37. What resources do I have for making good decisions confidently and quickly?
  38. What would someone I respect and whose path I want to follow, tell me to do right now?
  39. What would I like to be able to truly say I know in my life, about my life?
  40. What would I like to be doing or have done in 3 months? How can I make this a reality?
  41. How do I measure my progress towards my goals?
  42. What would happen if I did the opposite?
  43. What tasks can I batch to become more productive?
  44. What am I postponing today, that’s holding me back from what I really want?
  45. If I couldn’t fail, what would I try to accomplish?
  46. Who are the people who can help me accomplish my goals? How can I position myself, as to get help from these people?
  47. How much control do I have over what I do on a day-to-basis? (Hint: The answer is 100%)
  48. What can I defer or delegate on my to-do list right now, that won’t have a negative impact?
  49. If I had to reduce my expenses by 50% in 3 months, how would I do that?
  50. What bad decisions in the past have I made, that still affect my life today? Why am I not doing anything to change this?
  51. What habits or actions can I take to increase my energy each day?
  52. What other questions can I journal that can allow me to live my life more consciously?

The goal with asking questions like these is to live your life consciously.  To live, not on autopilot, but each day congruent with your mission. Because in the end, a conscious life, is a rich life.

Nice thought RJ! Thanks for this. The Gen Y community (the blogosphere in general) picks and chooses the topics that they will actually insert into their lives. These questions are something I intend to consider. I also think it is safe to say that I will purchase my Roth with Vanguard and my stocks with Scottrade based in part to your “Who is the Best mutual Fund Company or Best Broker for Online Trading?” post.

So many questions… Some of my answers made me feel sad though especially 34- “What period on my life did I most enjoy? What were the common characteristics?”
The common characteristic was a person whose not around any more, and, I guess, the place, which I can’t spend the rest of my life in because I don’t have citizenship.
