11 Resources to Help You Learn Anything, Travel the World, and Make More Money

in Making Money

From my days in AOL Chat rooms with a 56K modem , I’ve spent a lot of time online. Below are my favorite resources to learn anything, travel the world, and make more money that I’ve found.

Enjoy!

If you I’ve led you to anything new, do you mind taking a second and Tweeting this post or sharing it on Facebook? The Tweet and Like buttons are just to your left. Thanks!

# 1 – Marc Andreessen Blog Archive

The best business blog online, hasn’t made a post in two years. Surprisingly, I’m OK with that. That’s because what’s leftover, adds more value than 99.9% of anything else I’ve read online since.

Start with the PMARCA Guide to career planning. Not that I was ready for it, but I would have loved to read that 8 years ago.

# 2 – Empire Builder Kit (affiliate link)

One year ago, I didn’t know a thing about building a business. It wasn’t that I wasn’t looking for information; my problem was that I had too much information. More importantly, I didn’t know what to try first.

Enter the Empire Builder Kit. The Empire Builder Kit taught me how to turn Gen Y Wealth into a profitable business. I’m still far from supporting myself full time through this site. However, for the first time, on the right path.

# 3 – Warren Buffett’s Letter to Shareholders

I look at the letters Buffett has written to shareholders since 1977, as the most important collection of business advice anywhere. If there was a museum for business advice, Buffett’s letters would be the centerpiece.

You’ll learn more real world advice on investing, economics, and just flat out wisdom, by reading Buffett’s letters compared to reading any textbook.

# 4 – Natural Confidence (affiliate link)

I see self-confidence as one of the most important qualities to have.

If you asked me before I went through Natural Confidence if I had self-confidence, I would have said yes. However, my actions were not backing me up. I was procrastinated on a lot of important projects because I didn’t know if I would succeed.

After going through Natural Confidence, I saw a big change in my productivity. I’m no longer afraid to take bold actions. Most importantly, I’m thinking bigger.

# 6 – Ramit Sethi’s Bookmarks on Delicious

By scrolling down Ramit Sethi’s, author of I Will Teach You to be Rich, Delicious Page, you’ll find top resources for any topic imaginable. Need to read up on blog monetization? There’s a tag for that. Need to read up on negotiation? There’s a tag for that. How about productivity? There’s a tag for that.

I’ve pretty much outsourced my web surfing to Ramit.

# 7 – Frequent Flyer Master (affiliate link)

I have acquired over 90K Miles in 3 different accounts. That’s good for an international round trip ticket (Maybe even 2 depending on where I fly). All without paying a single fee, seeing a decrease my credit score (it actually increased), or spending a lot of money.

The tips and tricks I used were acquired from reading Frequent Flyer Master. If you’re interested in traveling on a budget, it’s an eBook I highly recommend.

# 8 – Bogleheads.org Forum

The personal finance and investing forum with people who actually know what they’re talking about. On any given day, if you post a finance question to the forum, you’ll get a high quality response.

# 9 – Flyer Talk Miles & Points Forum

The forum that keeps me up to date on the latest travel buzz. I find myself here at least once a week to stay up to date on short-lived opportunities for miles and points.

# 10 – Khan Academy

I heard a lot about the Khan Academy, especially with the founders recent Ted Talk, but still never sat down to learn anything. After watching one video, I was blown away. Now I know why Bill Gate’s called the Khan Academy, the future of education.

If you ever want to learn anything, the Khan Academy offers over 2,100 very good educational videos.

# 11 – Cloud Living (affiliate link)

Cloud Living was the second informational product I bought to help teach me how to build a business online. Unlike the Empire Builder Kit, Cloud Living covers a lot of the technical details of building an audience online like SEO and proper blog set up. For a non-techie guy like me, this was very helpful.

I like the Motley Fool. Some really good analysis of stock and investing trends and newsworthy events in the marketplace.

I occasionally find myself on Motley Fool. However, since I try to stay away from trends overall, it’s not very helpful to a buy and hold investor like myself.

I think your RSS feed might be broken or needs a but of a tweak. Every entry is showing up as this post, but with a different title.

Thanks Caitlin. Not sure why that happened. Looking at my RSS, everything looks fine. I’ll look into it though.

Yeah, I have no idea why it’s happening. When I look directly at http://feeds.feedburner.com/Genywealth it shows the same way (every post is the same as the current post). Other feedburner feeds are working fine for me.
Windows XP, Firefox 3.6.13, cache/cookies cleared.

Here’s a screenshot of what I see: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/absinthe-fairy/GenYFeed.png
The duplicated feed footer content makes it difficult to fit it all on my small screen, so it’s not a great example as you can only see the end of one post and the barest hint of the beginning of the next.

Caitlin – Thanks for the screenshot. This is frustrating because it’s different for me. I’ll tinker around and see if I can fix it.
